Simple To Use
CrossWired Science provides online science learning in a fun and engaging way with their program. As a homeschooler, sometimes it can be daunting to teach all the subjects we want to cover and finding great, complete, easy to follow curriculum can be challenging. So finding something that I feel at ease using is something that makes me very happy.
The project has two global topics to choose from which is great, especially if Science is not a strong area in your homeschool. The program does not overwhelm either the parent or the student. The two global topics are Sound, and Fluid Dynamics.
We still are having a little trouble being more consistent in our daily Science class but CrossWired Science has taken the preparations out of my hands and saved me so much time.
It is convenient that videos that have been viewed (and their quizzes taken) are listed with a green check mark. That way it’s easy to see where to pick up for the next lesson
We began with the Global Sound unit which contains a Direction button and an Info button. Clicking on the Direction button provides a quick pop up that explains there are eight core videos along with recommendations on how to implement the timing. There are also suggestions for adding more tasks to make the lesson more robust for different children requiring more. CrossWired Science covers different scenarios thus making it very versatile. The Info button pop-up provides a basic understanding on how the curriculum will be absorbed by a child over time.
A nice bonus is that you don’t have to do the lessons in order and you can skip some completely, yet mark them as done.
Afterwards no matter where we ended up I had my daughter write up a few short sentences or paragraphs to explain what we learned or researched. The cool thing is that if we wanted to we could have submitted it online simply by just typing it in the boxes for each section.
Online Based: I love it! Easy access! My homeschool is on the go so I need my homeschool material to be accessible! Everything is provided online all I have to do is sign-in and class is started. Although it is not required to purchase extra materials, some books and supplies are optional for an enhanced learning experience.
