Above the Clouds

By Don Miller | Jan. 23, 2020

I just took a trip in a jet. It again amazed me how fast we lifted above the weather into the steady beauty and warmth of the sun. Five minutes up will turn the worst day into a beautiful one…the sun never changes.

.

The sun turns five million tons of matter into energy every second to maintain its beauty and life-giving energy. Yet God arranged it so we’d only get a billionth of its second-by-second output as we circle the sun at 67,000 miles an hour.

.

We’re held in place by the infinitesimally small gravitational forces of the individual atoms that make up the sun. The atoms are so incredibly small that a thousand billion of them make up one human cell. Yet, each of these tiny marvels in the sun shoot out a force 93 million miles. Together, their forces team up and hold us circling the sun, keeping us from rocketing away into space. How this happens is an astonishing mystery to me.

.

God almighty, the Alpha and Omega, my Father and Savior and yours, pulled it off to give us the beauty of life.

.

When things get a little weird, crazy, not-so-good or confusing, remember that you and I are locked in a grid below the clouds. We can’t always see the opening in the clouds to see His love, goodness, intelligence and power…but nothing ever changes. He’s exactly the same…every day, every moment. We just need to stand in that and wait for His next act of Unexpected Beauty to break through.

.

Joseph hung on and plodded on in his piddly–but very important– circumstances. Then God broke through and altered time and space supernaturally and blew him away with unexpectedly beautiful circumstances. Then His extreme love for Joseph continued to roll out His full intentions. And by God’s design, the whole story became a signpost for his generation and ours of the trustworthiness and affection of the Creator of all things.

.

God wants to create new stories for our generation. He LOVES doing this. Keep lifting your eyes to the Creator of the beauty of the mountains, the flowers, the birds and the tastes of the food we all love. Nothing–absolutely nothing–no matter how powerful or impossible–can stop the Maker of all that is.

.

”For nothing is impossible with God..”—Luke 1:37
